We took a break from the blog for the last few days. Here's a quick catch up. On Friday the mudding on the walls was completed. Over the weekend Sarah and I painted the ceiling white. It took two coats of paint and we'll apply a third coat when the cabinets are finished (minor touch up work).
On Monday the Pergo floors were removed in the kitchen and the original linoleum was unveiled. Now we understand why they covered it up. The linoleum will stay with the cork floors going over the top of it. Also on Monday, the gas line was removed to make way for the base cabinets.
Tuesday brought the installation of the top cabinets. The kitchen is really starting to take shape and we're getting excited with the progress. Tomorrow the base cabinets should go in and it is now coming time to order the flooring and countertops. We will be going with a Wicanders Tea cork floor purchased from ProSource. We still haven't made a definite decision about the countertops, but it will most likely be a granite tile. We visited Kate-lo recently and liked a tile there. This week we'll visit Cold Springs to see what granite tile they have.
