Last summer we put in a new brick patio in the backyard. In the process we took down the old gate that was between the house and the garage. Well, to tell you the truth, it was falling down anyway. As I was taking it down I found the posts had rotted out. We went around trying to find out how much it would cost to get a gate put up. The fencing companies in the area wanted $800-1000. Well, I thought that was a bit much for a eight foot section of fence and gate.
I could put a gate up that was similar to the old one, but I wanted something a little bit nicer. So I went online looking for gate plans. Sarah and I eventually found one we liked at
GardenStructure.com. Here is the actual
gate plans. I spent a couple weeks (evenings) and weekends building the gate in my uncle's woodshop. Then it took me about a week to get the posts, gate, and side fences installed. Check out the pictures below to see how it turned out.
